"October 1 st at the Frontline in Ghent. I had seen the Hellies already there with the Skulls and they made a good impression though they still were clearly starting out. This night showed they had already made some major improvements. It sounded already way more tight and focused than a few months ago, so they're on the right way! Their basic punk tracks get mixed up with a few obvious covers from bands like Motörhead or the Groovie Ghoulies but they also ripped apart “Working 9 to 5” by Dolly Parton and “Leaving on a jet plane” by John Denver! Cool!"

"Wanna try a new Belgian band on? Well, The Hellies hailing from the beautiful East of Flanders are all about 3-chord punkrock with a serious Ramones injection .
This demo is their first recording. This three-piece has been playing gigs all over the place and are on a serious roll right now. Singer/guitarist Annie Hellie has a cool voice and makes The Hellies stand out from the rest of the bunch. Of course this is a demo and it sounds like a demo. So dont expect a huge sound or anything, its all very simple and honest and that makes it so damn cool. Theres still some work to be done, the intro of Bad day couldve been done in a different way, but hey
IT is a killer song ! It got me sing ing along pretty quick (all of the songs in fact).
I really hope The Hellies are gonna record something professional in the near future and send it out to lots of labels, you know you might get lucky someday
I recommend this 4-track demo to everybody who supports their underground punkrock and loves a Ramones , Groovie Ghoulies kinda sound. The Hellies are definitely making their mark on the Belgian scene! Keep it up boys and girl! "

"The Hellies are a 3-piece band from the surroundings of Gent. I saw them live once and they managed to hold my attention and pulled a regular smile on my face. From the 4 tracks on this Demo CD I should conclude they've matured and changed a bit in their musical outcome. The poppy feel that was underneath present when I first saw them has been switched for a more genuine late 77-Brit punk feel . Most of the lead vocals are done the girlie guitar player, which gives The Hellies as a band a mighty adrenaline rush and suits them perfectly well with their slight change of style. The Hellies are for sure punk rock the way Penetration , Vic Godard and The Subway Sect, The Gymslips and The Models were in the late 70s in the UK or the Avengers, The Bags ans Los Reactors were in California around the same era. Very cute, very neat and ready for a decent support."
“Loved the Hellies, you guys rock and Ann, who would of ever known that you rocked so hard, after meeting you at your home you were so soft spoken and kind, you definitely have a Jeckel/Hyde personality which is very cool”

The Hellies proudly present their first digital tracks! They are three real down to earth people with no attitude whatsoever and it shows through these four cuts. Honest and charming punk that's played straight from the heart, what do you want more, The cathy girlie vocals have those tiny lil' angles that clip themselves inside your ears and the overall outcome reminds a fair deal of the Avengers. The Hellies for sure have delivered a cool product here and deserve all of your support!
